M80 Ring Road Completion Project 2024
The M80 Ring Road Completion project involves the delivery of new lanes and smart technology from Plenty Road to a new M80 interchange. The Ring Road will seamlessly connect to the new North East Link tunnels and move through-traffic under a new Grimshaw Street interchange.
BLD, as part of the Work Readiness team, ensures that M80 Ring Road is fully prepared to undertake all project tasks. Similarly, BLD, as part of the Delivery Readiness team, must guarantee that all necessary activities are completed satisfactorily before commencing construction.
Metro Tunnel Project - 2024
The Metro Tunnel will create a new end-to-end rail line from Sunbury in the west to Cranbourne/Pakenham in the southeast of Melbourne City, with bigger and more modern trains, high-capacity signalling and 5 new stations.
BLD Engineers collaborated with UGL and John Holland as part of the Rail Network Alliance (RNA) Control and Monitoring System (CMS) testing and commissioning team, supporting lab environment testing, site acceptance testing and commissioning of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System CMS.
Camberwell Stage 2 - 2024
This project consisted of the removal of multiple level crossings and enhancements to the Lilydale Line. The works also included consolidating the Train Control System and eliminating Dark Territory along the Camberwell Corridor to improve train visibility and establish a centralized maintenance terminal, boosting operational efficiency and system reliability.
BLD engineers collaborated with UGL PTY Limited, leading the TCS team in designing, testing, implementing and delivering the scope according to functional requirements. BLD managed and oversaw the procurement, construction, and commissioning, including a significant upgrade to the TCMS systems.
Keon Parade Project – 2024
The project entailed removing the level crossing at Keon Parade, Keon Park by building a new rail bridge over the road. Additionally, the existing Keon Park station was replaced with a modern elevated station equipped with enhanced facilities for the local community.
BLD played a significant role in the train control system upgrade necessitated by the removal of the Keon Parade level crossing. Our collaboration with UGL PTY Limited involved providing project management support and technical expertise throughout the project.
Shepparton Corridor Upgrade Stage 3 - 2023
The Shepparton Line Upgrade will deliver more frequent and reliable services, and has allowed modern VLocity trains to travel to and from Shepparton for the first time.
BLD Engineers conducted the requirement verification activities to support the design process of the track and the signalling upgrades required.
Hurstbridge Line Upgrade Project - 2023
This project consisted of building new modern stations at Greensborough and Montmorency and improving Diamond Creek station. The works also included the doubling of 2 km of rail between Greensborough and Montmorency stations and 1.5 km between Diamond Creek and Wattle Glen stations to allow more trains to run more frequently.
BLD led the Signalling team, overseeing the design and deliver of the scope in accordance with  requirements. This included managing Siemens, as well as handling procurement, construction and commissioning, including CBI and TCMS Upgrade.
